My name is Andrea and  I am the  founder of On Belay Dog Company. I started this project after making leashes as gifts for friends.  They were a huge hit, and so I thought - why not share this good thing?  

Every leash starts as a beloved climbing rope that's aged out of safety use, but still has plenty of life left in it. Climbing ropes get retired for good reason — they've taken enough falls, seen enough sun, done their job. But the material itself is still strong, still colorful, still full of memory.

Rather than let that rope end up in a landfill, I collect them from fellow climbers, wash and inspect every inch, then hand-build them into leashes that are as tough as the routes they came from.

It's a small, fun project born from a love of dogs and a love of reusing what still feels usable. I hope you love it too.
